iPhone Killer? Yeah, ..., uhm, No

Nokia is currently advertising their soon to be released smart-phone N97, complete with a touch screen, slide-out physical keyboard, 3G, WiFi, GPS, 5MP camera and 32 GB memory. From the specs, it obviously beats the crap out of the iPhone. But can the interface reach the elegance of the iPhone? Read more to find out.

At first glance, I would say: Yes, it can. Check out Nokia's advertisement in the following video which shows off the N97's sleek touch interface.

However, in another released hands-on video, we are faced with the sobering facts of reality: The interface shows none of the sexiness from the advertisement above. In fact the whole thing looks rather sluggish. Take a look for yourself:

On the other hand, you have to applaud the rendering folks at Nokia for producing such a fancy fake interface. Too bad it hasn't made it to the real world yet. I, for one, hope it does some day. Apple could use a little competition in the market. Maybe that will convince them to support copy & paste...
